In recent years, the amount of time children spend on digital devices has increased significantly. While some argue that technology is vital for education, others believe excessive screen time has negative effects on children's development.

On one hand, technology plays a crucial role in modern education. Schools increasingly use digital tools for lessons and assignments. A 2025 Cambridge Assessment English study found that 78% of primary schools use tablets for interactive learning. Apps and educational games make learning more engaging for children. Additionally, technology develops important digital skills needed in today's job market. For example, coding programs for children teach problem-solving and logical thinking.

However, excessive screen time can negatively impact children's health and social skills. Studies show that too much time spent on devices can lead to eye strain, poor posture, and sleep disturbances. Moreover, children who spend more time on screens often have less face-to-face interaction with peers, potentially affecting their social development. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends limiting screen time to one hour per day for children aged 2-5 years.

In my view, while technology is beneficial for education, parents and teachers should set reasonable limits on screen time. A balanced approach would allow children to benefit from educational technology while protecting them from potential harm.
