How to try it: Write your response first. Then compare it with the visible answer or checklist and revise one sentence.
1. Build a Sentence
Answer or self-check: The class met online because the laboratory was closed.
Why: The main clause comes first, followed by a reason clause. “Was closed” supplies the passive verb required after “laboratory”.
2. Write an Email
Answer or self-check: Coverage checklist: clear purpose; unavailable room; library location; 3 p.m. time; confirmation request; suitable greeting and closing.
Why: A useful response must complete every requested function. Tone and grammar support the message, but they cannot replace missing content.
3. Academic Discussion
Professor: Should first-year university students complete a short community project as part of orientation?
Answer or self-check: Sample direction: I support a short project because it gives new students a shared task with a visible local result. For example, mapping accessible campus routes could help the community while teaching students how to coordinate research. The project should remain brief so it does not crowd out academic preparation.
Why: The sample answers directly, develops one original example, and adds a qualification. A different position can be equally effective if it is clear and supported.
