Bài IELTS Writing Task 2 năm 2026:
> Many people believe that fast fashion is contributing to environmental degradation and should be banned. Others argue that it provides affordable clothing and supports economic growth. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Điểm: 130-140
Fast fashion is a big problem today. Many people think it is bad for the environment and should be banned. They say that fast fashion makes a lot of waste and uses many resources. For example, it uses a lot of water and makes pollution. This is true because factories make a lot of waste and this waste goes into the environment.
But other people think fast fashion is good. It gives people cheap clothes and helps the economy. Many people can buy clothes they like without spending a lot of money. Also, fast fashion makes many jobs. This is good for the economy because more people have money to spend.
In my opinion, fast fashion is bad. It is bad for the environment and we should find other ways to make clothes. We should use materials that are better for the environment and recycle more. This will help the environment and still give people cheap clothes.
Điểm: 150-160
Fast fashion has become a significant issue in modern society. On the one hand, critics argue that it contributes to environmental degradation. The production of fast fashion involves extensive use of resources and generates a substantial amount of textile waste. For instance, the fashion industry is responsible for around 10% of global carbon emissions. Additionally, the use of synthetic materials leads to microplastic pollution in our oceans.
On the other hand, supporters of fast fashion highlight its economic benefits. It provides affordable clothing options for consumers, especially those with limited financial resources. Moreover, the industry creates numerous job opportunities, contributing to economic growth. For example, countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam have seen significant economic improvements due to the fast fashion industry.
In my opinion, while the economic benefits are undeniable, the environmental costs are too high. It is crucial to find a balance between affordability and sustainability. Implementing stricter regulations on waste management and promoting sustainable alternatives can help mitigate the negative impacts of fast fashion.
Điểm: 170-180
The phenomenon of fast fashion has sparked intense debate in recent years. Proponents of banning fast fashion argue that it poses a severe threat to the environment. The rapid production cycles and disposable nature of fast fashion items lead to immense textile waste. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American generates about 82 pounds of textile waste annually. Furthermore, the industry's reliance on synthetic materials contributes to microplastic pollution, which harms marine life and enters our food chain.
Conversely, advocates of fast fashion emphasize its economic advantages. It caters to the demands of consumers seeking trendy and affordable clothing. The industry supports millions of jobs worldwide, particularly in developing countries. For instance, the ready-made garment sector in Bangladesh employs over 4 million workers, significantly contributing to the nation's GDP.
In my view, while the economic benefits are substantial, the environmental consequences are alarming. Governments and consumers must prioritize sustainable practices. Encouraging ethical consumerism, supporting sustainable fashion brands, and implementing effective recycling programs are essential steps towards mitigating the adverse effects of fast fashion.
Điểm: 190-200
The rise of fast fashion has become a contentious issue, with proponents and critics presenting compelling arguments. Critics contend that fast fashion is a significant contributor to environmental degradation. The industry's linear model of 'take, make, dispose' results in enormous waste and resource depletion. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation estimates that the fashion industry produces about 92 million tons of waste annually. Additionally, the use of synthetic fibers releases microplastics into the environment, posing a grave threat to ecosystems and human health.
Supporters, however, assert that fast fashion drives economic growth and provides affordable clothing. The industry is a vital source of employment, particularly in developing economies. For example, the textile and clothing sector accounts for around 80% of Bangladesh's exports. Furthermore, fast fashion meets the demands of consumers seeking the latest trends at affordable prices, fostering a dynamic and inclusive market.
In my opinion, the environmental costs of fast fashion outweigh its economic benefits. Urgent action is required to transition towards a circular economy, where waste is minimized, and resources are kept in use for as long as possible. Governments, businesses, and consumers must collaborate to promote sustainable alternatives, such as upcycling, recycling, and the use of eco-friendly materials. By embracing these practices, we can mitigate the adverse impacts of fast fashion while still enjoying the benefits of affordable and stylish clothing.
